Rotten Tomato Sauce in Popular Dhaka Restaurant! Owner Arrested
Dhaka, April 14: Police in Dhaka have arrested the owner of a popular restaurant in the Kamrangachar area for allegedly using rotten tomato sauce.
On Sunday, April 14th, around 9:30 PM, a team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) raided a house in the Munshihati area, uncovering a fake sauce production facility called Farjana Food Products.
The raid yielded 500 kilograms of rotten tomatoes, 200 kilograms of spoiled olives, and 100 kilograms of prepared adulterated sauce.
The owner of the facility, Mr. Farid Hossain Bellal, was arrested.
The Allegations:
The Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Lalbagh Division, Mr. Mohammad Imran Hossain Mollah, informed that this factory had been producing fake sauce for a long time using rotten tomatoes, carrots, tamarind, and olives. The sauce was reportedly produced in unsanitary conditions, violating all health and food safety regulations.
Customer Risk:
This adulterated sauce was allegedly supplied to various renowned hotels and restaurants in the capital, putting customers at risk.
Legal Action:
A case has been filed against the arrested owner.
