Fire Breaks Out in Scrap Shop in Savar’s Bank Colony, Extinguished After Hour-Long Battle

A fire broke out in a scrap shop in the Bank Colony area of Savar on Saturday (April 20) at around 7 pm. Four units of the fire service managed to bring the blaze under control after an hour-long effort.
Details of the Incident:
- Locals spotted smoke and flames coming from the scrap shop around 7 pm.
- Upon receiving the news, two units of the fire service rushed to the scene.
- Later, two more units from Jirabo Fire Service joined the operation.
- After nearly an hour of fighting the fire, it was finally brought under control.
Statement from Fire Service:
Senior Station Officer of Savar Fire Service, Meherul Islam, said, “The fire in the scrap shop has been extinguished. There is no possibility of the fire spreading further. However, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be ascertained initially.”
Locals’ Statement:
Locals expressed their gratitude to the fire service for bringing the fire under control quickly. However, they demanded from the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
