Dumki Nephew’s case of killing uncle
**Potuakhali:** A tragic incident has occurred in Dumki Upazila’s Lebukhali Union in Potuakhali. In this incident, retired police officer A. Aziz Sikder (70), who was known to be mentally unstable, succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a relative.
**Incident:** According to eyewitnesses, Shahid Sikder (28), the mentally unstable son of Altab Sikder from Lebukhali Union, became agitated for unknown reasons and severely injured his uncle, A. Aziz Sikder, by assaulting him with a sharp object. Local residents apprehended Shahid and handed him over to the police. A. Aziz Sikder, critically injured, was rushed to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Hospital.
**Accusation and Arrest:** Shahid Sikder’s brother, Sabuj Sikder, claimed that his brother Shahid had been exhibiting erratic behavior for several days prior to the incident. Although there was no prior conflict, they mentioned his mental instability as a contributing factor to the tragic incident.
**Police Response:** Officer-in-Charge Tarek M. Abdul Hannan of Dumki Police Station confirmed that the deceased’s body is in the morgue of Barishal Hospital. Shahid has been arrested in connection with the incident.
