The body of the missing old woman was found in the cemetery
Rajshahi: Police in Rajshahi’s Puthia sub-district recovered the body of a missing elderly woman bound in a sack from a graveyard in Thandarpada village on Friday afternoon (April 12th). The body was found four days after the woman was reported missing.
The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Bedena Bewa, a resident of Thandarpada village. Police said Bewa had been missing since Tuesday, April 8th. Her family filed a missing person report when they were unable to find her.
On Friday afternoon, locals alerted the police after noticing a foul odor emanating from the graveyard. Police arrived at the scene, opened the sack, and discovered Bewa’s body. They found cut marks on her throat, injuries on various parts of her body, and duct tape on her mouth.
Police Suspect Foul Play:
Based on their initial investigation, police suspect Bewa was murdered, bound, and then dumped in the graveyard. An investigation is underway to determine the motive for the crime and apprehend those involved.
Statements from Locals:
Locals described Bewa as a simple and harmless woman. They said they were unaware of any conflicts she may have had with anyone. They demanded a swift investigation to uncover the reason behind the murder and arrest the culprits.
Police Assurances:
Saifur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Puthia Police Station in Rajshahi, said the body of the deceased woman has been sent for autopsy. He assured that multiple police teams are investigating the case and that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.
