Eid moon was sighted today afternoon in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, though the National Moon Sighting Committee confirmed the date for Eid ul Fitr on Tuesday after no moon sighting reports were received from anywhere in the country until yesterday. Consequently, Eid will be celebrated nationally tomorrow, Thursday, April 11th.

National Moon Sighting Committee’s Decision:

A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee was held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm at the Islamic Foundation’s conference room at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The meeting was presided over by the committee’s chairman and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Mr. Faridul Haque Khan. After receiving no reports of Eid moon sighting from 64 districts across the country, the committee confirmed that Wednesday, April 10th, will mark the 30th day of Ramadan, and Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated the following day, Thursday, April 11th.

News from Cox’s Bazar:

However, Nurul Alam, chairman of the Saint Martin Union Parishad in Cox’s Bazar, informed that the Eid moon was sighted today in Saint Martin’s Island. According to him, the moon was visible from various locations on the island around 5:45 pm.

Eid in Other Countries:

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar are celebrating Eid ul Fitr today, Wednesday, April 10th, as Ramadan completes its 30th day in those countries on Tuesday.
