Dental Admission Test: Minister Says Smooth, Candidates Disagree
Dhaka, Bangladesh: The admission test for government and private dental colleges and dental units of medical colleges for the academic year 2023-2024 was held on Friday, March 8th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 20 venues across 12 centers throughout Bangladesh.
Following the exam, Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen stated, “This year’s dental admission test was conducted very smoothly and efficiently.” He informed that 50,795 candidates participated in the exam.
However, some of the examinees complained that the questions were unusually difficult and the time allotted was insufficient. One candidate said, “Many questions were out of syllabus, not even covered in our course books.”
Another candidate added, “The time was also very limited. I couldn’t answer all the questions.”
The Health Minister, however, refuted these claims, stating, “The questions were set according to the syllabus, and the time provided was adequate.”
This test will be used to fill 545 seats in government colleges and 1405 seats in private colleges.
Bangladesh currently has one government dental college and eight dental units within various government medical colleges. The private sector has a total of 26 dental colleges.
Additionally, the Health Minister spoke with media personnel about various issues, including ongoing efforts to shut down illegal health centers, the importance of enacting a law for doctor protection, and measures to prevent dengue outbreaks.
