Rajshahi Businessman Murdered Over Meat Price Dispute
In a tragic incident in Rajshahi’s Bagha upazila, Mamun Hossen, a local businessman, was brutally murdered allegedly by his own brother-in-business, Khokon Hossen. Mamun and Khokon were involved in the meat business together in the local market. A few days ago, they decided to separate their businesses, leading to a dispute over the pricing of meat.
On Saturday morning, Mamun was selling meat at Tk 650 per kilogram, while Khokon was selling at Tk 700 per kilogram. The disagreement over the pricing escalated into a heated argument between Mamun and Khokon. At one point, Khokon, armed with a sharp knife, attacked Mamun, causing severe injuries. Mamun was later found by the locals and rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Abdus Salam, an employee at Khokon’s shop, stated, “Khokon and Mamun were both selling meat side by side. Khokon was pricing it at Tk 700, and Mamun at Tk 650 per kilogram. The disagreement resulted in a public confrontation at the market, where Khokon allegedly attacked and killed Mamun.”
The deceased, Mamun Hossen, hailed from Piadapara village under Adarani Municipality. The Bagha Police, led by Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam, informed that Mamun’s body is currently at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, and efforts are underway to apprehend Khokon.
