In the Twelfth National Parliamentary Election, Shakib Al Hasan, the Awami League’s candidate for Magura-1 constituency, expressed unwavering optimism about victory as he cast his vote. Voting commenced peacefully at 8:01 am on Sunday at the government primary school polling center in Darimagu, Magura.
Meanwhile, at 9 am, Awami League’s candidate for Magura-2 constituency, Biran Shikdar, exercised his voting right at the Singra School polling center. Like Shakib, Shikdar also conveyed his hundred percent optimism about securing victory.
Despite a slightly reduced morning voter turnout due to the chilly weather and rain, election officials expect an increase as the day progresses. In Magura-1, where Shakib is contesting, there are a total of 152 polling centers with 485,000 voters. Magura-2 constituency has 143 polling centers with 387,920 voters.
Ensuring the safety and integrity of the election, a six-tier security arrangement has been implemented, involving the military, BGB, RAB, police, Ansar, and 5,068 personnel. Additionally, 23 executive magistrates and judicial magistrates are overseeing the electoral process.
Magura’s Return Officer and District Administrator M. Abu Naser assured that all necessary measures have been taken to maintain peace and accuracy during the election. The security forces are working diligently to uphold the six-tier security plan, providing a secure environment for voters and candidates alike.
