Relatives of innocent BDR members imprisoned in connection with the Pilkhana massacre organized a human chain and protest march in Gazaria, Munshiganj, demanding their release.
The human chain program was held under the banner of the BDR Welfare Council, Munshiganj District, at the Bhoberchar Bus Stand area.
During the human chain, the attending relatives demanded the identification and trial of the actual perpetrators. They claimed that as part of a conspiracy by the former Hasina government, innocent BDR members have been imprisoned without trial for 16 years following the horrific Pilkhana massacre. They urged the interim government to take steps for their release.
A woman present at the human chain, identifying herself as the daughter of a BDR member, said, “My father was serving at Dhaka Pilkhana. After the incident, he was arrested. Despite repeated remands, no evidence was found against him. He was proven innocent in court, yet he is still imprisoned. I want my father’s release and his reinstatement in his job.”
Sixty dismissed BDR members from Gazaria and their relatives attended the human chain. On behalf of all convicted BDR members, three demands were made: a reinvestigation of the Pilkhana massacre case, the release of the then-detained BDR (now BGB) members, and the cancellation of all verdicts related to the case.
