Workshop in Jagannathpur for Creating a Suitable Environment for Breastfeeding

A consultative workshop at the upazila level was held in Jagannathpur to create a conducive environment for exclusively breastfeeding infants.
The workshop was conducted under the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition project, implemented by FIVDB with support from Helen Keller International.
On Sunday (December 15), the event took place at 10 AM in the auditorium of Jagannathpur Upazila Health Complex, presided over by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Sharmin Ara Asha and moderated by Project Officer Md. Tuhin Alam. The chief guest of the workshop was Jagannathpur Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Riad Bin Ibrahim Bhuiyan, SA-AD.
Special guests included Jagannathpur Upazila Family Planning Officer Shamim Chandra Talukder, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Kawsar Ahmed, Project Manager Dr. Jatan Bhumik, Project Coordinator Nihar Sinha, Nutrition Officer Asad Ullah Ansari, Bidhan Jonakosta, and Field Facilitators Junaid Ahmed and Papia Begum, among others.
Union Parishad chairpersons, medical officers, academic supervisors from the Upazila Secondary Education Office, nurses, health inspectors, FPIs, FWVs, and FWAs were also present at the event.
Speakers highlighted that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months significantly contributes to the mental and physical development of children. They emphasized raising awareness at the community level about this critical issue and urged everyone to participate actively in advocacy and promotional efforts.
Officials noted that through the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition project, supported by Helen Keller International, FIVDB is working in all eight unions of Jagannathpur Upazila to identify malnourished children, refer them to hospitals, and ensure proper treatment for their return to a healthy life.
