Starry Night at the National Science and Technology Museum
A special event was organized at the National Science and Technology Museum in Agargaon, Dhaka, this Wednesday evening for viewing the pink moon. Students and guardians from various educational institutions participated in the program. From the rooftop of the museum, they gazed in awe at the moon glowing in a beautiful pink hue.
The Mystery of the Pink Moon
Experts explain that a full moon is visible when the Earth is positioned directly between the Sun and the Moon. During this time, the Moon appears completely illuminated from Earth’s perspective. In April, when a full moon occurs, the Sun is situated relatively lower in the sky. Sunlight enters Earth’s atmosphere, scattering blue light, which is why we see a blue sky. However, when the Moon is behind the Earth, the Sun’s red light penetrates the atmosphere and reaches the Moon. This red light bathes the Moon in a pink color.
This extraordinary event happens every year in April.
This year was no exception. Many people shared their experiences of being mesmerized by the pink moon.
