Wholesale business without a license will not be allowed: Government in a tough stance
Dhaka, Monday (March 11): At the end of a visit to the Shantinagar market in the capital, Commerce Minister Ahasanul Islam Titu has made it clear that wholesale business without a license will not be allowed.
Discipline in the market
The government is taking strict measures to maintain discipline in the market, keeping Ramadan in mind. He informed that consumers can report complaints by calling the Consumer Rights Protection Directorate (16121).
Mandatory licenses
The process of bringing wholesale and retail traders within the purview of licensing is underway, said the minister. He said, “Many businesses do not have licenses. Wholesale business without a license will not be allowed.”
Smart market management
The government is implementing ‘Smart Market Management’ to ensure disciplined supply chain management from producers to consumers, said the minister.
Market monitoring
The Director General of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, AHM Safikuzzaman, has instructed each market committee to monitor the markets. He emphasized the need for the support of these committees in controlling commodity prices.
Inconsistencies in the campaign
Deputy Director of the Consumer Rights Directorate, Bikash Chandra Das, said that during the campaign in the Karwan Bazar, it has been observed that prices are being raised even with slight changes in the products.
Presence of journalists
During the visit to the Shantinagar market, Councilor Anamul Haque Abul, President of the Aminbazar Business Association, Mojibul Haque, Vice President Mostafizur Rahman Babu, and Abu Siddique, along with other business leaders, were present.
