In the Magura-1 constituency of Bangladesh, renowned cricketer Shakib Al Hasan is participating as an independent candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Shakib, the former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, has previously voted in parliamentary elections but is now running as a candidate himself. He cast his vote at the Magura School Center and was present at the polling center early in the morning. After casting his vote, Shakib exchanged greetings with the voters, also engaging with the media.
The Magura-1 constituency has a total of 400,485 voters, with 200,862 male voters and 199,621 female voters. There are 152 polling centers in this constituency. Shakib’s opponents for this seat include Kazi Rezaul Hossain from the Bangladesh Congress, KM Motasim Billah from the Bangladesh Nationalist Front, M. Sirajus Saifin Saif from the Jatiya Party, and Sanjay Kumar Ray from the Trinamool BNP.
This election is part of the larger elections taking place in 299 constituencies, with a total of 11,961,633 voters participating. Due to the unfortunate demise of an independent candidate, the election in the Naogaon-2 constituency will not be held. Besides, there are 852 voters from the third gender.
