US President Joe Biden warns: Iran could soon attack Israel
US President Joe Biden has warned that Iran could soon launch an attack on Israel. The attack is believed to be in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, the capital of Syria.
In an interview with CBS News, BBC’s US partner, Biden said, “I don’t want to get into specific intelligence on the attack. But I think it’s likely to happen soon.”
Biden added, “We are committed to defending Israel. We will always have our support for that country. We will do whatever it takes to defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with top officials to discuss how to deal with the potential attack. The meeting discussed Iran’s possible attack, but no decision was made public. However, Netanyahu said his forces are ready to deal with any attack.
It is worth noting that on April 1, an Israeli airstrike in Damascus, the capital of Syria, killed at least 11 Iranian officials, including two top commanders of the IRGC, the elite force of the Iranian military, in Syria and Lebanon. Since then, Iran’s top military and government officials have repeatedly threatened revenge.
