Truck driver and helper arrested with heroin worth 1.5 crore rupees
In a groundbreaking operation against heroin smuggling, the Gazipur Metropolitan Police arrested two drug traffickers along with a truck worth 2 crore Taka. The truck was intercepted in front of the Dhan Research Institute in Gazipur due to allegations of heroin smuggling.
The arrested individuals are Fahad Hossain (27), son of Al Amin Hossain from the Balugram area of Chapainawabganj district, and Safat Hossain (26), son of Semajul Islam, from the same area.
They were apprehended last Saturday afternoon in front of the Gazipur Municipality’s Dhan Research Institute. During this operation, 1 kilogram and 456 grams of heroin were seized from the truck. The market value of this heroin is approximately 2 crore Taka.
On Sunday afternoon, during a press conference, Gazipur Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner, Khayrul Alam, revealed that based on confidential information, a truck coming from the Mirpur Bhashantek area was intercepted. Later, the police conducted a search operation and found the heroin hidden under the back seat of the driving seat of the vehicle.
Present at the press conference were AC Fahim Asjad of GMP Sadar Zone and OC Syed Rafiul Karim of Sadar Police Station.
