Local traders and residents staged a protest rally, blocking the railway line at Sukhanpukur Railway Station in Bogura, demanding a stop for the intercity train Dolon Chapha.
On Thursday (December 12) at around 12:30 PM, they stopped the Dolon Chapha train, obstructing it for 20 minutes. As a result, train services on the Santahar-Lalmonirhat route were halted. The blockade was later lifted, and the train resumed its journey.
The protesters stated that Sukhanpukur Railway Station is a very old station. They have repeatedly appealed to the railway authorities over the past year to include a stop for the Dolon Chapha train at the station. However, the authorities have not made any decisions regarding their demand.
“We are appealing to the relevant railway authorities, including higher officials and the ministry, to meet our demand for stops for Dolon Chapha and other intercity trains. That is why the locals have come together to stage today’s blockade. We hope the concerned authorities will accept our demand,” they added.
