In a recent development, approximately 10,000 teachers and staff from private schools and colleges are set to be included in the MPO (Monthly Pay Order) system. The Education Minister, Mr. Mosharraf Hossain Nofel, revealed that this initiative will cover all institutions at the secondary level gradually.

 

However, the Minister cautioned that institutions with MPO-enlisted teachers but lacking students may face the possibility of MPO cancellation. He emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education, including teacher training and various developmental measures.

The decision to include 8,163 school teachers and 1,487 college teachers who passed the registration exam in the MPO system has been announced by the Secondary and Higher Education Department. Additionally, 4,924 teachers and staff will receive higher scale benefits, while 1,177 school teachers will be awarded BEd scale. Furthermore, 138 college teachers have been approved for promotions.

 

The Education Minister stressed the need for ensuring that MPO-enlisted schools provide quality education. He also urged educators to focus on vocational education to better prepare students for the workforce.

The move to bring all institutions under the MPO system up to the secondary level is aimed at fulfilling the government’s goal of providing government-assisted education to 100% of primary students up to the secondary level, according to the Education Minister.
