Policeman sentenced to 5 years imprisonment in drug case
A police constable has been sentenced to five years imprisonment in a drug case in the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court of Barisal district. The main accused in the case is mentioned as Constable Mo. Kaosar of Barisal district police.
It is alleged that on February 11 last year, Mo. Kaosar was caught with two kilograms of marijuana in front of his own house by the DB police. He was then accused in a case under the Narcotics Control Act at Barisal Sadar Police Station. Eleven witnesses testified in court in this case.

Mo. Kaosar has been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court. Therefore, considering the seriousness of the offense, the quantity of drugs, and the defendant’s previous criminal record, the court has sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand taka, with an additional one month of imprisonment in default of payment.
The court has also directed that Mo. Kaosar be sent to jail custody and a copy of the judgment be sent to his superior authority for necessary action.
