Mother hacked to death for not getting married, son arrested
In Faridganj, Chandpur, a son, enraged by his mother’s refusal to arrange his marriage, has committed murder. The police have arrested the accused son in connection with the incident. The deceased woman has been identified as Renu Begum (57), the wife of Atar Khan from Ichhapur village in Faridganj upazila. The arrested son’s name is Rasel (27), who is the youngest among his three sisters and two brothers.
On Friday afternoon, the incident took place in the Ichhapur village of Paikpara union. The ASP (Administration and Finance) of Chandpur district police, Sudipta Ray, informed about the incident on Saturday.
Faridganj: A young man named Rasel had been pressuring his family for marriage for a long time. However, due to being unemployed, his family did not heed his demands. Frustrated by the failure to fulfill his marriage demands, Rasel brutally murdered his mother by strangling her with a glass wire last Friday.
According to the police report, after the incident, Rasel called his father and informed him about the murder. Upon receiving the news, the police arrived at the scene and recovered the body for post-mortem examination.
Subsequently, the police launched a rapid operation and apprehended Rasel from the Kerowa area of Faridganj late last night. During interrogation, Rasel admitted to committing the murder.
The police further informed that Rasel had been unemployed for a long time. Despite demanding money from his family for marriage, he failed to succeed. Frustrated by this, Rasel committed the heinous act of killing his mother.
The incident has caused widespread unrest in the area, and locals are demanding swift justice.
In connection with the incident, Atar Khan filed a murder case against Rasel at Faridganj Police Station on Saturday morning. Later, Rasel was presented before the court.
