Lamisha, a BUET student who died in the fire, is the daughter of Additional DIG

The tragic incident at Bailey Road has claimed the life of Lamisha Islam, an extra-ordinary student of BUET and daughter of Mo. Nasirul Islam, an additional DIG.

IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun visited the scene and stated, “Our colleague’s daughter has passed away.” Later it was known that the deceased was Lamisha Islam.

Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, the verified Facebook page holder, expressed condolences for Lamisha. He wrote, “In childhood, Lamisha and her sister were part of a family that suffered a maternal loss. Suddenly, this family is devastated again by fire.”

He further mentioned, “In 2018, due to the sudden physical illness of a fellow teacher, both of his daughters died. They were very young at that time. Despite being dependent on his daughters, the teacher did not show interest in remarriage. Over time, the teacher’s daughters grew up to be independent, self-confident, and intelligent, taking the place of their mother with the love of their father.”

On 27th February, Sudip Kumar Chakraborty had met Lamisha. He wrote, “Even then, in the script, I couldn’t understand that death was calling her with open arms.”

On 29th February, it was reported that Nasir Sir’s daughter is among the reunited officers at Rajarbagh Police Lines during the retirement ceremony.

From IGP’s media briefing, he learned that, “A colleague’s daughter succumbed to the devastating fire incident in that building.”

Sudip Kumar Chakraborty expressed deep condolences for Lamisha’s untimely demise and conveyed profound sympathy to Nasir Sir and his younger daughter.

He extended heartfelt condolences and support to the deeply mourning families of the 45 deceased in this incident.
