**Doctor Arrested Following Maternal Death Incident in Gopalganj**
A case has been filed regarding the maternal death incident due to the negligence of a doctor at the United Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Kotwali Para, Gopalganj. On Friday (March 15), the deceased mother Afrozar’s mother Monika Begum filed a case with the Kotwali Para police station, accusing two doctors and five others.
The accused in the case are Afroz’s husband Jahid Khan, his mother-in-law Ranu Begum, and Dr. Probhash Mondal, the medical officer at the Kotwali Para Upazila Health Complex.
The other two accused in the case are the surgeon Jahid Hasan Khan Rintu of the private hospital and the hospital manager Shamim Khan.
Kotwali Para Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Firoz Alam said that due to the negligence of the accused, Afroz was admitted to the under-equipped hospital in Ajopara village, leading to the arrest of the deceased’s husband and mother-in-law.
The other two accused in the case are on the run. The arrested accused have been sent to court after being arrested in the evening.
On Thursday morning (March 14), Afroz was admitted to the United Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Narayan Khana Bazar of the upazila for cesarean section delivery. In the afternoon, doctors took her to the operation room. About two hours later, they reported that Afroz and her unborn child had died.
