Celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr with Saudi Arabia in Jhenaidah

uslims in various villages of Jhenaidah have celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Fitr in conjunction with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries.

Today, Wednesday (April 10), at 8 am, Eid congregations were held in different areas of the district, including the courtyard of Golum Hazrat in Harinakundo upazila. Nearly hundreds of Muslims from various areas participated in this congregation.

The organizers of the Eid congregation have informed that for several years now, they have been organizing Eid congregations in collaboration with Saudi Arabia. Muslims from different areas including Bongiara of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila, Kulbaria, Narayankandi, Baithapara, Boyalia, Chatkabariya, Falsi, Payradanga, Nityanandarpur, Shailkupa upazilas, Vatai, and Alamdanga upazilas of Chuadanga district have performed Eid prayers in a traditional manner in collaboration with Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Muslims in areas like Harinakunda Bazar and Charpadahati in Rajshahi came to perform Eid prayers.

Wazed, who came to perform Eid prayers from the Katakhali area of Rajshahi, said, “We know that fasting and celebrating Eid depends on sighting the moon. The moon has been sighted in the sky of the world, and all Muslim countries including Bangladesh are celebrating Eid today. So I came here yesterday to my relative’s house to perform Eid prayers.”

The organizer committee of the Eid congregation, Sadar Editor Shahjahan Hossain, said, “For the last 21 years, we have been fasting and performing Eid prayers in collaboration with Saudi Arabia. There has been no deviation this time as well. We have organized the Eid congregation to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”

One of the Imams of this Eid congregation, Rezaul Islam, said, “Every year Eid prayers are performed after sighting the first moon in the sky of the world. So naturally, our Eid celebration aligns with Saudi Arabia.”

He further stated, “If any trustworthy Muslim brother sees the new moon in the sky of the world, then fasting must be observed, and Eid prayers must be performed accordingly. Since the new moon has been sighted in the sky of the world.”
