Celebrating the New Year with Colorful Baishakhi Mela in Gaibandha

Today, Pohela Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, fills Gaibandha district with joy. People are celebrating this grand festival with the hope of a new year, a new beginning, and a fresh start on life’s journey.
Organized by the Bangladesh National Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (NASIB), a Baishakhi Mela is underway in Gaibandha town. This fair, set up in various locations across the district, showcases an extraordinary collection of handicrafts.
The mela was graced by the presence of the Honorable Member of Parliament (MP), Shah Sarower Kabir, who is the grandson of the first Speaker of the Parliament of Independent Bangladesh, Shah Abdul Hamid, a former Upazila Chairman of Gaibandha, and a prominent leader. Mr. Kazi Nahid Russel, the MP for Gaibandha Sadar-2 constituency and a member of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Public Administration, and the Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha also visited the fair. They showed keen interest in NASIB’s activities and offered their encouragement.
Pohela Boishakh is being celebrated throughout the district with various events, including cultural programs, sports competitions, and discussion forums.
This fair promotes the products of local artisans. It also provides customers with the opportunity to purchase new items.
