Uncle Commits Murder in Balatkar, Nephew Suffocated to Death
Gaibandha, Saghata Upazila, January 12: A demonstration and human chain protest were held in the Bhutamara Ghat Bazaar area, protesting the assertion of Imran, the murderer of madrasa student Sabbir, regarding his hanging. The event took place on Friday afternoon near Hafizia Madrasa in the Bhutamara Ghat market, with a banner procession focusing on Imran’s assertion followed by a widespread human chain.
At the end of the human chain, Sabbir’s father, Anichur Rahman, and the principal of the madrasa, Jahid Hossain, were the key speakers. They emphasized Imran’s immediate execution for Sabbir’s murder, mentioning that Imran had been sexually abusing Sabbir for the last three years. In response to the protest, Imran confessed to suffocating Sabbir to death due to resistance.
Although Imran attempted suicide during this incident, he was arrested by the police on January 9. During interrogation, Imran admitted to the murder. According to further details, Imran went to Sabbir with the intention of committing the crime, strangled him with a scarf, and then informed the police after retrieving the dead body.
Investigation and Legal Actions: The local residents actively participated in the protest and human chain against this incident. Following the events, the police arrested Imran, and investigations are underway to uncover more details about the case.
