In Gaibandha’s Govindaganj, a tenth-grade girl was allegedly sexually assaulted with the temptation of marriage. She was found in the house of a boy in the Polashbari village of Rakhelburuz Union, located in the Palashbari village of Jahidul Islam’s tenth-grade daughter (18) of Krishnapur village in the Chhagoriya Union of Fulbari Union in Govindaganj Upazila, along with the son of Jahidul Islam, Sohag Mia (25). They developed a relationship of love over two years due to this romantic relationship. The girl had encounters with the boy in various places due to this relationship.
Based on sources familiar with this romantic relationship, on Tuesday, Sohag Mia forcefully assaulted the girl with the temptation of marriage. Afterward, when the girl spoke about the matter of marriage, the boy said the Kazi had called, and they fled from the house.
From then on, the girl started living in Sohag Mia’s house, claiming to be married. When local journalists were informed about this, they found that half of the residents of the area were witnessing the incident in front of the boy’s house. When journalists questioned the girl, she revealed that due to the temptation of marriage yesterday, Sohag Mia forcibly assaulted me, affecting me physically and mentally. She further disclosed that when she expressed her love for him, he cut her with a knife in front of her, saying he really loved her. She appeared mentally distressed.
At that time, the locals present advised the girl to seek legal assistance and took her to the police station. Regarding this matter, Sohag Mia’s mother said, “My son is not at home now. So, even if they have a relationship, it can continue. And if the boy is not there, how will the marriage take place?”
Regarding this issue, the Officer-in-Charge of Govindaganj Police Station, Samshul Alam Shah, told journalists that if an allegation is made, an investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken.
