Fake doctor sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 1 lakh fine
Bagerhat: On Wednesday (March 27), during an operation opposite the Children’s Hospital in the city, Sifat Muhammad Istiaq Bhuiyan, a senior assistant commissioner of the district administration, conducted a campaign at the “Service Pathology and Consultation” facility under the name Shafiqul Azam Khan and sentenced a quack doctor to three months in jail and a fine of 100,000 taka.
Dr. Sheikh Riyaduzzaman, a medical officer at the Civil Surgeon’s Office, along with police personnel, was present at the time.
Allegation:
Shafiqul Azam Khan had been harassing patients by claiming himself to be a specialist doctor for a long time.
There was an allegation against him for not having a valid medical degree or license.
Verdict:
Assistant Commissioner Sifat Muhammad Istiaq Bhuiyan sentenced Shafiqul Azam Khan to a fine of 100,000 taka and three months’ imprisonment under the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Act 2010.
Approval:
However, the court informed that necessary approval is available in the pathology department of the “Service Pathology and Consultation” center.
