A child drowned in a pond on Dasmina

Patuakhali: A two-year-old boy named Neyamat Ullah drowned in a pond in Dashmina, Patuakhali on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place in Paschim Char Hossainabad village under Banshbaria Union of the upazila.

The deceased, Neyamat Ullah, was the grandson of Mo. Belayet Sikder and the younger son of Romij Sikder. According to family sources, Neyamat Ullah fell into the pond while playing around عصر (Asr) prayers in the afternoon. A short while later, his elder brother Shahajan Sikder spotted Neyamat floating in the pond while going for wudu (ritual washing) for prayers.

Neyamat was rushed to the Dashmina Upzila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the area. The family members of the deceased are inconsolabably heartbroken.
