Hakim Mo. Nazmul, of Nur Nagar village in Kamar Khan D Upazila of Sirajganj, is a sailor on MV Abdullah, a Bangladeshi ship, among the Indian Ocean’s Somali sailors. Hearing the news of his son Jimmy, the family is in anguish. They are passing days in worry.
Upon hearing such news about his son, Mohammad Abu Sama, Jimmy’s father, has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Jimmy is the only child of the family and is in the hands of a sailor. This news has caused his mother, Nargis Khatoon, to faint repeatedly while holding a photo of her son.
Nargis Khatoon says, “On Tuesday night (March 12), we last communicated with Nazmul. At that time, Nazmul said it could be the last conversation, and we won’t be able to communicate anymore. He asked us to send SMS if necessary.”
This incident has also caused panic among the neighbors. They have appealed to the government and administration to bring all the Jimmies back safely.
After hearing such incidents, the district administration and police are inquiring about the family’s whereabouts.
Abu Sama, Jimmy’s father, is a farmer, and his mother, Nargis, is a housewife. Nazmul was born after the death of their three children. Locally, he is known as Hanif.
