“653 Magistrates Deployed Nationwide for  bangladesh Electoral Offense Control Ahead of Parliamentary Elections”

“653 magistrates across the country have taken to the field for law enforcement from Friday in view of the 12th parliamentary elections. They will be engaged in dealing with electoral offenses two days before voting, on the voting day, and for two days after the polling. A total of 653 judicial magistrates have been appointed for a period of five days from January 5 to January 9.

If the magistrates have to act regarding any electoral offense during their tenure, the matter of their efficiency will be sent to the Election Commission’s Secretary’s Office (Law). During their tenure, magistrates can have a bench assistant and a stenographer/office assistant as aides. Necessary arrangements have been instructed to be made through their respective office heads for this purpose.

The voting will commence at 8 am next Sunday (January 7). In this election, 1,970 candidates will compete for 299 parliamentary seats.”
